The reenactment of the Passion in Paros is a unique tradition that stands out in the island’s picturesque villages, with Marpissa being a special destination for visitors. Every Good Friday, the residents of the village set up scenes depicting the Passion of Christ, creating an atmosphere filled with emotion and reverence. Visitors have the opportunity to follow the procession of the Epitaphios, with twelve different stopping points, each one presenting a scene from the Divine Passion.

This unique ritual began in 1924, when the village teacher Vasileia Kafourou-Asoniti suggested that her students take part in the reenactment of the Passion, giving a different dimension to the traditional procession of the Epitaphios. This original idea developed into a beloved custom embraced by the local community and became a point of reference for the village. Today, after a century, the tradition continues to move and unite locals and visitors.
