Beyond the summer season, people gather on the island to experience the traditional Easter customs of Hydra. One of the most impressive is the procession of the Epitaphios in Kaminia on Good Friday. This custom stands out for its uniqueness, as the Epitaphios of the parish of Saint John the Baptist passes through the sea, recalling the old sponge divers and sailors of the area. The procession begins at the church and reaches the water, where the priest blesses the sea to ensure safe journeys for the sailors.

This custom, which began in 1923, is kept alive every year with the participation of locals and visitors. One of the earliest Hydriot customs, this tradition remains unchanged, offering a unique spectacle full of emotion and reverence.
